Torrential Rains Claim Over Thirty Lives in Mexico
The agency confirmed that the heaviest toll was in the central state of Hidalgo, where 22 fatalities were recorded. The neighboring state of Puebla reported nine deaths, while five were confirmed in Veracruz and one in Queretaro.
Authorities are actively aiding victims' families and extending support to thousands impacted by the extreme weather.
The destructive conditions stem from heavy downpours intensified by Tropical Storm Raymond, which has been churning off Mexico's Pacific coastline. The storm has unleashed severe flooding, landslides, and widespread infrastructure damage in multiple regions.
Emergency crews from both local and national governments, reinforced by military and naval units, have been mobilized to clear blocked roads, evaluate the scope of destruction, and deliver critical relief supplies.
Officials indicated that restoring normalcy and completing recovery will require considerable time and effort.
