Trump Told Netanyahu US Will Not Yield on Iran Nuclear Issue

(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump reportedly assured Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that Washington will not make concessions regarding Iran’s uranium enrichment program, according to Israeli media reports on Saturday.

The reports cited an unnamed Israeli official who said Israel is closely watching developments in US-Iran negotiations and remains in a state of ongoing anticipation regarding possible policy decisions from Washington.

According to the same reporting, Israeli military and intelligence officials have recently presented more assertive positions toward Iran during internal discussions. The Israeli military is said to view Iran’s current capabilities as presenting what it considers an “operational opportunity,” while intelligence services reportedly believe renewed military pressure could weaken the Iranian state structure.

At the same time, Israeli officials were described as cautious not to appear as though they are pressuring the United States toward escalation.

Earlier in the week, Trump expressed optimism about diplomatic engagement with Iran, describing recent discussions as positive and suggesting that the conflict could conclude quickly. He also indicated that Washington expected a response from Tehran to a US proposal in the near future.

The broader regional situation has remained tense following military strikes carried out by the United States and Israel against Iran, which led to retaliatory actions across the region and disruptions in key maritime routes.

A ceasefire was later established through mediation efforts, though subsequent negotiations did not result in a long-term agreement. The United States has also maintained maritime enforcement measures in the region amid ongoing instability.
