Provided by AGPSpeaking to reporters at the White House, Trump described how advanced the decision process had become, saying: “They knew that we were very close. I would say that I was an hour away from making the decision to go today.”
He added that Washington could still carry out further military action if a diplomatic breakthrough is not reached soon, warning of additional escalation. He stated:
“They’re begging to make a deal. I hope we don't have to do the war, but we may have to give them another big hit,” he said. “I'm saying, two or three days, maybe Friday, Saturday, Sunday, something. Maybe early next week, a limited period of time, because we can't let them have a new nuclear weapon.”
The comments come amid heightened tensions surrounding the conflict involving Iran, following a war launched by Washington and Israel earlier this year, according to reports.
Separately, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi disclosed details of a new Iranian proposal presented during talks with parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee.
According to reports, Tehran’s proposal centers on maintaining its “right to uranium enrichment and peaceful nuclear activities,” and has been submitted to the United States, which has not yet issued a formal response.
The proposal is seen as part of ongoing diplomatic exchanges aimed at reducing tensions, even as both sides continue to exchange warnings over potential further escalation.
